I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday and you are now ready to get busy, and Happy New Year to you as well. First of a new decade!

The holidays were great but while I was making merry with my family and friends I also was planning but not doing much blogging over the last 2 weeks. I enjoyed it but secretly could not wait to get back to my business. It is now time to take action and make my plans come together. So what about you?

In the internet marketing niche a good rule of thumb is for every
subscriber on your list you should make around $1 per month per
subscriber on average.

So let’s do some simple math estimates on what this amount may do for you.

100 subscribers = $100 a month (nice dinner for two)
1000 subscribers = $1,000 a month (your car payments )
5,000 subscribers = $5,000 a month (mortgage & living expenses)
10,000 = $10,000 a month (over six figures a year, you can problably work a lot less or quit your job at this point) And it just keeps going up from there.

One of my goals is to get back to basics in what I share online. All too often we all get hung up by the latest shiny new object, but they can and often are just a distraction.

So just what are the basics?

Your own domain & hosting is a must. I adore Blue Hosting.

The best autoresponder to start building your list, Aweber.

Some type of squeeze page system to build your list

A blog that you add content to regularly

Tracking set up to know what is working for you

When you have these things and they are working well for you, then you can look at the things that will improve what you are doing, such as:
Tools you have to have. Sometimes you can get them free, but I usually prefer to use paid products.

If you recommend them as an affiliate, they will pay you back.
Here is an example.

I use Chris Farrel’s membership for some of my sites, some of my autoresponder lists. At $29.87 Ca a month it is a bargain. He has free hosting, but as I recommend him (very easy to do because I like and use it) at the end of the month I get paid more than the $30. so it has now become a free tool that is a paid service.

At the start of the new year make sure that you have laid out your yearly plans and start with the basics and work on getting those working before you get distracted by the next shiny object. This was very hard for me, but you really must do it.

Finally the key is to take action! Don’t expect perfection, get it right but you can continue to improve things as you get them done and out there online.

Every time I post something to my websites or blogs I twitter it.

Sometimes its done for me with the systems I have set up and I don’t even have to do it manually.
